In a cozy restaurant in London, U.K., three friends sharing laughs found themselves discussing an unexpected topic – toilet troubles. It was only February, and one of the friends confessed to not one, not two, but three toilet blockages already in the year. The culprit? Supposedly “flushable” wet wipes that didn’t break down.
This conversation inspired two of these friends to seek a better more environmentally friendly alternative.
Introducing Twipes: a truly toilet-friendly wet wipe that eliminates the frustrating experience of clogged toilets and misleadingly labeled wet wipes.
Our co-founder and COO, Ellenor McIntosh, equipped with a background in chemical and materials science, dedicated nearly five years to research and development, culminating in the creation of Twipes in December of 2019, in collaboration with co-founder Alborz Bozorgi running business operations as CEO.

Twipes co-founders won the Mayor's Fund for London's annual entrepreneur competition.
Elle received the Diana Award for her work with Twipes' biotech. The award recognized her as one of the most inspirational young individuals in the U.K. and worldwide, contributing to lasting global change.
Twipes launched manufacturing and distribution in the United Kingdom.
Elle was named among top young entrepreneurs for creating the products, methods and materials of tomorrow on "Forbes" 30 Under 30 list in 2020 in the manufacturing and industry category.
Twipes became a 43North startup competition winner, securing a $1 million investment from the accelerator program for seed startups. After winning the competition, the company expanded stateside to set up its second headquarters in Buffalo, New York.
Twipes launched its subscription service and wholesale partnerships in the United States, bringing the team stateside.
Twipes was selected to participate in the Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab - an intensive five-month accelerator program designed to help further develop and scale startups, culminating in a showcase presentation and Demo Day to the investor community.
Twipes was selected to participate in the Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme, a six-moth endeavor which extends mentorship and U.S. market exploration opportunities to eight U.K.-based businesses.
